We are pleased to announce the addition of our newest product, the Spider Plus blown-in insulation with interlocking fiber technology. We asked Nick Cuttleback, our Operations Manager, the reason he thought we should add it to our product list.
"The driving factor was that it is a new technology which is underutilized on the market currently,” Nick said. “It’s a big step up from traditional fiberglass insulation and blown in cellulose.”
Here are the top five reasons we believe the choice of Spider Plus over traditional insulation methods is clear:
-
Speed
Installing Spider Plus is faster than traditional methods of insulation. Did we mention same-day drywall installation? It goes up faster, dries faster and it allows you to get on with the job faster, ultimately saving you both time and money.
-
Better Air Quality
How much control do you have over the air quality of your house? A big part of controlling your air comes from how well insulated your house is. Many traditional methods leave room for drafts and are not resistant to mold, thus allowing for spores to float freely around your home and — ultimately — into your lungs. Spider Plus is 30% less permeable to air than traditional products and able to fill all gaps and voids to prevent unwanted air flow. Unlike many traditional methods for insulating your home, it is also mold-resistant, so there is no need for the homeowner to worry.
-
Higher R-value
When most people are looking at insulation they are typically comparing the R-value versus the cost when making their decision. Our new Spider Plus can be installed at an R-value of up to R-23. What exactly is an R-value? It is the method of measuring an insulating material’s resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the better the insulator that material is. However, when making these comparisons, most do not take into consideration things like settling, gaps or voids in the walls, air quality, mold resistance and more. Therefore, you may have installed R-15 insulation, but is that what you are actually getting over time?
-
No settling
Thanks to gravity, what goes up must come down. This is true for many traditional methods of insulation. Your insulation could be falling down inside your walls and — short of tearing the wall open — you have no way of knowing. With Spider Plus, you never have to worry about your insulation settling or shrinking. It will always be right where we applied it, keeping your heat and air conditioning inside your home.
-
Energy Efficiency
There are many ways to calculate the cost but, in many cases, consumers are only looking at the up-front costs. On that front, there is zero waste in the installation of this product as we are able to recycle all unused material. Due to the fact this product doesn't settle, no new drafts or air leaks will be created and, as a result, less energy will be needed to heat or cool your home over time.
If you take into consideration faster installation times, zero waste, lower utility bills and less money spent on mold abatements and/or repairs, we think you’ll find real cost savings by using a premium product like Spider Plus.
